Friends of the Portage Senior Center

We’ve started the year with a new logo thanks to our design team and Nancy Lambrix from Lambrix Designs. They also designed our annual appeal and thank you notes that make a great statement about our organization. The Friends board is charging ahead with marketing in its effort to raise money for the Portage Senior Center. If you haven’t made your annual donation yet you can do it online right here.

Not only do we have a new look so does the Portage Senior Center. Stop by to see the new look, take a tour and meet the staff. We would love to have you!

Join us NOVEMBER 3, for the PORTAGE SENIOR CENTER’S ANNUAL HOLIDAY BAZAAR AND BAKE SALE. Admission is free. We have a huge variety of delicious, homemade baked goods and wonderful crafts for your early holiday shopping. Lunch is also available for purchase. The event runs from 9 AM to 3 PM, at the Portage Senior Center, 320 Library Lane,  Portage Michigan. All proceeds from the bake sale, lunch sales, and raffle ticket sales go directly toward supporting programs and services at the PSC. Mark your calendar today and come shop with us!

“The Portage Senior Center depends on annual membership dues and contributions for support. As we look ahead to a new fiscal year and its budget requirements, we see that 74% of PSC funding must be raised primarily through annual membership dues, class fees, annual contributions and grants. Meeting this challenge is something each of our members helps with when they pay their annual dues, contribute to the Annual Fund Drives, participate in fund-raisers, and volunteer. The Good News is, we have a vibrant and caring community at PSC, and no one is turned away due to inability to pay for membership. Scholarships are available. If you or someone you know is in need please contact any PSC staff member for confidential assistance.”

Daisy Dollars are back! Purchase daisy Dollars at the PSC in denominations of $5, $10 or $20, then redeem them, dollar for dollar, from April 25 to June 23 at Schuring’s Greenhouse. Purchase flats of annuals, herbs, vegetables, specialty container gardens, hanging bags, hanging baskets as well as hardy perennials and vegetables with your Daisy Dollars and Schuring’s will donate $.25 to the PSC for every Daisy Dollar sold. It’s a great deal. Schuring’s prices are competitive in this area, so you’ll pay the same as you would elsewhere. Your Daisy Dollars can be purchased at the main desk of the Portage Senior Center with cash or check.
